Find out how long your computer has been ON – Windows
Jan 11th
Windows XP:
1. Press ctrl+r to bring the run dialogue box.
2. Now type in cmd to open command prompt.
3. Without worrying about where the cursor is, just type in systeminfo.
4. Scroll the generated information to find a row containing the system uptime.
Windows vista and 7
For windows vista and seven you can simply check the uptime in the task manager.
1. Press ctrl+shift+esc to open up the task manager directly in vista and seven. (no intermediate screen). If your task manager has been disabled due to a bug attack you can use this to enable it once again.
2. Now go to the performance tab.
3. You can find the system uptime below the real time graphs.
In vista and Windows 7 the XP method works but it won’t tell you the uptime directly. That method tells you when you last switched ON your computer (the date and time). The math is left for you to be done.

Aug 23rd
Finding great wallpapers couldn’t have been easier. Google image search is one great tool to find some awesome wallpapers for your desktop. It can be done simply by pre/post-fixing the following string after the search term. (replace the width and height with your desktop size.)
imagesize:widthxheight
>> Example
Vector imagesize:1440x900
Or if you want to do it in a graphical interface go to: advanced image search. Now click on the use my
desktop size link and enter a search term in the blue-find box. Click on the Google Search button
Wakoopa
Jun 6th
If LastFM is for music, Wakoopa is for softwares. A small tracker can be downloaded at the website which monitors the softwares you use on your computer. Very detailed statistics are recorded about your daily software usage and you can visually see it in the form of a pie chart. Like LastFM suggests similar music this website can suggest you similar softwares.
I find this website fun. The most fun part is working to increase your reputation in the website. To estimate your reputation, you are given ‘levels’. Levels page is really worth checking out.
