Find out how long your computer has been ON – Windows
Jan 11th
Windows XP:
1. Press ctrl+r to bring the run dialogue box.
2. Now type in cmd to open command prompt.
3. Without worrying about where the cursor is, just type in systeminfo.
4. Scroll the generated information to find a row containing the system uptime.
Windows vista and 7
For windows vista and seven you can simply check the uptime in the task manager.
1. Press ctrl+shift+esc to open up the task manager directly in vista and seven. (no intermediate screen). If your task manager has been disabled due to a bug attack you can use this to enable it once again.
2. Now go to the performance tab.
3. You can find the system uptime below the real time graphs.
In vista and Windows 7 the XP method works but it won’t tell you the uptime directly. That method tells you when you last switched ON your computer (the date and time). The math is left for you to be done.
Boot Windows 7 from USB
Dec 13th
Exactly like the UNetBootin software for linux, there is an opensource tool for windows7 available for download. Its called Window 7 Download tool. It functions the same way as the UNetBootin, to create bootable USB or a DVD from a windows 7 ISO file.
The windows 7 USB download tool creates a bootable USB or a DVD from the ISO file of Windows 7. The bootable USB/DVD can be used to boot the computer at startup. Changing the boot order from BIOS may help with boot issues. Then a simple guided installation can be done to install windows 7.
The following applications must be installed prior to installing the tool:
•Microsoft .NET Framework v2 must be installed. It can be downloaded athttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en .
•Microsoft Image Mastering API v2 must be installed. It can be downloaded athttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B5F726F1-4ACE-455D-BAD7-ABC4DD2F147B&displaylang=en.

XP Explorer error
Jun 23rd
I had this problem bugging me for days. Whenever I tried opening my movies folder which had about 150 movies, I got a Windows Explorer error hence restarting explorer.exe. First I tried deleting old movies assuming the folder is probably overloaded beyond Windows limits. I was wrong nothing changed, now I started using the taskbar’s desktop toolbar for navigation. But found some problems with that. This was unbearable, I would have reinstalled Windows to rectify this. I had to do something.

Aug 11th
I think windows xp’s search assistant sucks, unlike vista’s.
I found that the windows desktop search from microsoft is cool it makes your desktop search like vista’s
It works fine with all xp editions.
