Make WordPress blog a DO FOLLOW blog

I was unaware of the default no follow on wordpress engine. By default all the links on a unmodified wordpress blog are ‘NO FOLLOW’. This means, the links do not count as backlinks. This isn’t very encouraging to maintain relations in the blogger community. As the links don’t provide backlinks, people won’t care to get their links on your blog. The blog with no follow links would lie un-noticed in the community due to lack of backlinking.
To make a wordpress blog a DO FOLLOW blog the simple way. Download the plugin – DO FOLLOW plugin. Then activate it.

UPDATE: First of all, the plugin won’t work with Disquss and I love Disqus. Thanks to namanzone. I’m not uninstalling Disqus neither trying to “do follow” now. There is no doubt comments help drive traffic and build relations. It is pretty lame for people to not comment just because their links won’t get followed by search engines. NO FOLLOW on wordpress is there for some reason. At least I won’t get bombarded with infinite spam. Do Follow stays for now.
WordPress Image upload problem

Today when I was writing the previous post. The screen shot of the free extended task manager didn’t upload. There was an error saying “The parent directory …/wp-content/uploads/2010/01 isn’t writable.”
I opened up the file manager and navigated to the uploads directory. I have had a similar problem before. So, I made a new directory and named it 2010. The default permissions were 755. I changed it to 777 and then tried to upload again. The upload was successful. Now, there won’t be any such problems till jan 1 2011. I’ll have to repeat the process again for the new year 2011.
My web host isn’t a popular one like the Hostgator or Godaddy, so I face some problems like these often. Probably it isn’t optimized for wordpress. Hope I find a way to fix this soon. Otherwise, I’ll have to shift to a better host from may.
Make your own WordPress theme without coding

It is always tough to find a WordPress theme that matches your blog theme exactly. Divine lets you design your own theme. With the basic knowledge of photoshop all you have to do is design a page in photoshop. Then simply export it to wordpress using Divine. All the CSS slicing and page elements are created automatically by this free photoshop plugin Divine. The free version of the program has significant limitations in its functionality. Mac version is expected soon. You will need photoshop version CS2 CS3 or CS4 to install this plugin.

Facebook style WordPress theme

Smells like Facebook is a fantastic theme by Nazieb. The theme is a complete Facebook user interface clone. With all the AJAX and javascript effects recreated it looks exactly like facebook.
Te auto grow comment box, older posts etc are worth watching. The adspace at the right of the page serves as a great place for ads. I would have definite shifted to this theme if my blog was completely about social networking.
